Sila, an advanced battery technology company, announced it earned the ISO 9001:2015 certification for its Moses Lake, Washington, manufacturing facility.

Achieving this ISO certification at Moses Lake reflects the readiness of the quality systems and processes as Sila’s first-of-a-kind facility moves into commercial production.

The certification demonstrates Sila’s ability to operate a robust, scalable quality management system (QMS) that supports consistent product quality, end-to-end material traceability, effective risk management, and customer protection. These capabilities enable Sila to consistently deliver high-performing, reliable products that meet the rigorous requirements of customers, many of whom also require an NDAA-compliant supply chain.

“We’re demonstrating that advanced battery materials can be manufactured here in America at scale, with the quality systems required to serve the world’s leading OEMs and technology partners. This is another important step in building manufacturing capabilities in the U.S., backed by a relentless focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence,” said Chris Dougher, COO of Sila.

Sila’s Moses Lake facility is operational, with highly automated production systems designed to minimize operator variability and deliver consistent material outcomes. Sila’s manufacturing execution system (MES) manages recipe control, raw material requirements, and reactor readiness, while system redundancy helps ensure consistency across production. The facility’s QMS has robust material traceability capabilities, enabling Sila to track materials from raw material intake to processing, analytics, and final product.

The certification also establishes a strong foundation for Sila’s next phase of quality management as the company works toward IATF 16949 certification at its Moses Lake facility, which will position Sila to meet the rigorous quality requirements of automotive customers. Sila earned ISO 9001:2015 certification for its Alameda, California facility in 2022, where more than seven years of 24/7 operations have consistently delivered quality yields above 95% for Titan Silicon production. Sila intends to extend this track record of rigorous manufacturing standards and quality performance to its Moses Lake facility.

Sila recently received a conditional loan commitment of up to $1.4 billion from the United States Department of War through its Office of Strategic Capital (OSC). The financing will support the expansion of Sila’s manufacturing capacity at Moses Lake. Sila is the only advanced battery technology company in North America with GWh-scale operations.
